Colour story update

Since my last post, I have been doing a lot of research into my colour and how I can explore it for this brief. After choosing my colour, I knew I wanted to explore the connotations of the colour Crimson, and how it is perceived and can be manipulated to change peoples perspectives. I began with my mind map, with the first few ideas I could look into. However, I quickly chose to look into my red riding hood idea, and how Crimson is very relevant to the classic fairy-tale. Although looking into this further, I decided to incorporate a deeper meaning that can be taken from the story, Women's safety. I will be doing this sensitively, and will be changing the story to better suit the topic and my ideas, whilst still being very focused on the colour. With this in mind, I have decided to focus on an older audience (young adults specifically).

I also started looking into format ideas, and how they can help push and compliment my ideas further. Some of these ideas have been experimented wit, and will be posted after this.

  Colour Stories For this task, I decided to create digital work to present my chosen colour. I had chosen to look into Crimson Red, a colour I am familiar with as it is one I am researching for my main colour brief. Having all the research beforehand was incredibly helpful, and instead of choosing a story of the colours history, I decided to choose a story everyone is familiar with that includes that colour. Red riding hood is a very famous childhood story, a fable that has always used crimson red for the little girls cloak. The colour represents many things, but in this story I believe it represents attraction, bloodlust, warning/danger and innocence. In knowing this, I decided to base my drawings off of these ideas. I decided to go many creative ways with a variety of styles, but decided I particularly liked one and wanted to develop it further, pushing my ideas. If I were to develop this more I would make the image a lot bigger and add all the smaller details and lighting.

Colour Research - 1

 Colour Research 1 This is the initial research for my colour brief. There isn't much for now, as I would like to continue to add to this page and expand my options before limiting myself to one colour. At the moment I have an idea for two colours, and how I could use them for future works.
